Album Reviews
Just when sketch comedy series Kids In The Hall is being revived, The Eradicator (based on an old Kids In The Hall skit) is bidding his farewell. But not before he treats us to ‘Forever The Eradicator,’ his third and final album. That’s right, one last offering by the aggressive ski-mask-wearing squash player chock full of hardcore and metallic riffage, ear-piercing screams and squash-related lyrics.
Sure, it’s a gimmick that has now been spread out over three albums. But a good song is a good song and The Eradicator knows how to hand out punishment both on and off the court. ‘You Can’t Play Me’ sounds like an angrier Andrew WK, ‘Identity Reveal Party’ packs some killer riffs and ‘Squash Bender’ is what would come out ifPkew Pkew Pkew were to write a hardcore song. Rounding out the album is a cover of The Clash’s ‘Should I Stay Or Should I Go,’ which has been a live staple during The Eradicator’s shows. It’s a bittersweet farewell as it’s a fun cover but it looks like - for now at least - The Eradicator will go.
