If you are a fan of the EpiFat sound from the 90s, chances are you have already heard of Fire Sale. Featuring Matt Riddle (Face to Face, No Use For A Name), Chris Swinney (The Ataris), Pedro Aida (Ann Beretta), Matt Morris and Brad Edwards, Fire Sale is like a who’s who of guys who helped shape the music a lot of us grew up on. Continuing their string of 2-song singles, the band is now gearing up for the release of ‘The Albatross,' out Feb 9th on Negative Progression Records.

Starting off with an intricate bass line, it takes ‘The Albatross’ all of 26 seconds to take flight with lightning-fast poppunk drums, solid shredding and a chorus that begs to be sung along from the top of your lungs. And well, pretty much the same can be said of B-side ‘I Remember Damage’. If listening to these songs, makes you think of Pulley, Pennywise or No Use For A Name at some point, I totally understand and I’m right there with you.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that a band with this pedigree knows how to write a solid punk rock song, yet somehow it still caught me off guard how good these songs are. The sheer amount of gusto these songs are played with definitely don’t hurt things.
