Punk supergroup Me First and the Gimme Gimmes is hitting the road for Europe next month, with U.S. dates for August just announced. But before they take off, they have shared their cover of Vicente Fernandez's classic heartbreak ballad, "Estos Celos." Imagine a mariachi serenade getting blasted into a punk rock supernova – that's what you're in for! This fiery rendition comes courtesy of their upcoming live album ¡Blow it...at Madison's Quinceañera! (out June 14th). Here's what frontman Spike Slawson had to say about their latest drop:
“Estos Celos, sung most famously by the great Vicente Fernandez, is a musical lament of jealousy, regret, and heartache, made all the more vivid by the excruciating detail of the lyrics (all the way down to the mole on his ex’s neck) and the delirious, burning emotion in the Gimmes’ new rendition. You may be asking yourself, “What, thematically speaking, does this have to do with a Quinceañera?” and if you find the answer, please pass it along.”
