Singing Lungs and Bedford Falls are teaming up for the release of a 9-song split album on June 14 via Setterwind Records and Engineer Records. These kindred spirits separated by the Atlantic Ocean offer up previously unreleased songs in which they explore their own type of punk-influenced indie rock. Today, we are premiering one song from each band. You can check them out below.
Singing Lungs, hailing from Grand Rapids and Lansing, Michigan (USA) has been blending influences from 90’s pop punk, alternative, and grunge (think Lemonheads, Dinosaur Jr., and Samian) with the hooks and raw energy of 80’s power pop (think Husker Du and Wreckless Eric) since 2017.They have shared stages around the Midwest with Lagwagon, Child Bite, Mustard Plug, Laura Stevenson, Devon Kay and the Solutions, and indie legend J. Robbins. They even landed a spot opening for a Bernie Sanders rally in Michigan ahead of the 2020 election. In October of 2022, the band made their first appearance at The Fest in Gainesville, Florida.
Bedford Falls, Cardiff, South Wales’ (UK) Indie-Rock Vets have been churning out buzzsaw pop gems for over a two decades. Crashing waves of fuzzy, guitar driven noise propelled by massive pop hooks and tempered by world weary melancholy – this is the Welsh take on Dinosaur JR, Hüsker Dü, Superchunk and Jawbox with a healthy nod to Big Star and Teenage Fanclub. The band's fourth album “Pleasureland” will be out later this year via Boss Tuneage and Brassneck Records with a tour to follow.
