Rockets On Wire is an Amityville, NY based band that just self-released their debut full-length, “I Am Not Your Home”. They play the kind of brooding indie rock that doesn’t exactly make me feel all happy but which I can’t stop listening to nonetheless.

Opener “Wake” fades in slowly with just the haunting vocals of Marie Mayes and a lonely guitar before building up with drums and backing vocals pitching in their two cents towards the end. This one is then followed by the fast-paced “Fall”, a relatively straight-forward yet equally dark rock song.

Mayes is a great frontwoman and comes with a wonderfully diverse vocal range, sounding all sweet one second and bitter the next. She is backed up by a sturdy rhythm section and excellent riffs. I love how Rockets On Wire plays with tension, using the quiet almost as a sixth member of the band before letting it all rip again.
