Colt 45 is a pop-punk band from the UK who seem to have spent a fair amount of time listening to the likes of the Ataris and Alkaline Trio. Their influences are all over “Snakes & Ladders”, the band’s new 6-song EP. Could be worse, right?

And while these dudes know how to write a melodic hook, their lyrics are about as cliché as their band name. Hell, just take a look at their song titles. “I Can Forgive But I Won’t Forget”? “All Hell Broke Loose”? “What You See Is What You Get”? Seriously? They even go as far as starting “Two Steps Back” with the words ‘staring out the window’, which is basically the lyrical cliché to end all clichés. At least they know their way around a melodic hook. Now all they need is something to write about.

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
