Battered Lives
6.5
Remember that scene in Lethal Weapon 2 (or was it Lethal Weapon 3) where Mel Gibson and Rene Russo show each other their scars before getting it on? On “Battered Lives”, there is no getting it on but School Damage do show us their scars as, wrapped up in catchy songs that move along at a swift pace.
Throughout thirteen songs, these Toronto natives declare their love of fast drums, big hooks and self-deprecating lyrics. Does that sound familiar? Sure, Banner Pilot and Off With Their Heads have been doing a similar thing for years. As have a myriad of other bands. But that’s okay… we can always find good use for more songs cut from the same cloth.
