Mike (Adam Devine) and Dave (Zac Efron) are two brother who like to party. Seeing as they already messed up more family gatherings than their family cares for, their parents demand they find decent girls to keep them in check at their younger sister’s wedding in Hawaii. Logically, they place an ad on Craigslist and get scammed by Alice (Anne Kendrick) and Tatiana (Aubrey Plaza). This duo presents themselves as two respectable ladies, while in reality they party even harder than the brothers and are only interested in a free holiday to Hawaii.

Hilarity ensues. But not really. The entire movie is riddled with clichés and the jokes are so lame, they are downright embarrassing. You don’t have to expect much from the side-characters either. There’s the brothers’ cousin Terry (Alice Wetterlund), who stars as a free-spirited lesbian, and Kumail Nanjiani as a masseur, but none of them make this movie any more bearable. Of course, the ensuing chaos threatens to derail their sister’s wedding. But seeing as you don’t give a shit about anyone in the movie, that doesn’t really matter. What they needed even more than wedding dates, was a story that can’t be summed up in the title of the movie and some jokes that actually work.

There seems to be a trend in comedies nowadays where the powers that be think it’s enough to throw around a lot of vulgarity and profanity. Nothing wrong with either of those. I like a good fart joke as much as the next guy. But you need a little something extra to make a good movie.
