Meet Sugar & Tiger, one incredibly poppy punk band out of Paris. Lead vocalist Florence Vicha is Sugar and guitarist Didier Wampas is Tiger. Anyway, they really place the emphasis on the ‘pop’ part in pop-punk and come out the other side with catchy as hell songs about Linda Ramone and pink wigs. The fact that Florence sings in French immediately adds another level of cool or sexy (still not sure which), that just makes it even better.
Make sure to check this one out and while you are at it, keep an eye on Jarama 45RPM Recs as well. This Spanish label is hell-bent on bringing you the best of punk/garage/power pop one 7” at a time. So far, they are off to a pretty good start.
