Upcoming Releases
his One’s Gonna Hurt is the second full-length from the Colorado Springs punk rockers The Sleights featuring 12 tracks of guitar driven punk-rock.
Some of the tracks deal with many real life problems, depression being at the forefront. “It's something that all of us can relate to, the song 'Believe’ is about giving up because things just won't change. It's a lot better to sing about giving up than to actually do it," shares singer/guitarist Luke Blanton.
The track "Already Gone" deals with loss of love and the feeling of being alone even though you are still with the person. "Jen Razavi of The Bombpops was kind enough to sing on this song and absolutely killed it. We go way back, since I worked with The Bombpops as their tour manager for multiple US and European dates. She’s one of my favorite people and there is nothing better than singing with your friends. We are both big Methadones fans and the song was influenced by Dan Vapid’s lyrics – hell, even the title is a tip of the hat to him. I love this song and love playing it live.”
The song "A Day in the Life" is about about a rundown neighborhood where bands practice in Colorado Springs called Knob Hill. “Bridge to Nowhere” is about spending summers with friends when you're young, the trouble you can get into, and how those experiences define who you become later in life.
This One’s Gonna Hurt will be released digitally and on vinyl on Friday, April 25 via Rad Girlfriend Records and What’s Left Records. It was recorded, mixed and mastered by Felipe Patino at Green Door Recordings in Denver, Colorado. If you are a fan of big guitars, bass and drums, then this record will hit you in all the right places.
