Movie Reviews
As with most ‘end of the world’ type movies, we don’t really get to know much about what happened to the Earth. A new ice age just kinda happened. And now the survivors are stuck living in underground colonies. As luck would have it, none other than Laurence Fishburne and Will Paxton are both living in the same colony, battling the cold, hunger and sickness together. Fishburne is Briggs, the wise fatherly type who means to do well while Mason (Paxton) is starting to lose his marbles, gunning down sick people out of fear they’ll infect the others.
When they lose contact with one of the other colonies, Fishburne sets out on a dangerous expedition, which doesn’t make much sense seeing as they already have enough shit to deal with in their own colony. Regardless, Fishburne sets out on his journey accompanied by Sam (Kevin Zegers) and Graydon (Atticus Mitchell). Only of those two has a girlfriend… guess who gets killed? Anyway, when they find out that everyone at the other colony was killed by a bunch of bloodthirsty cannibals, they haul ass home but not without leaving a neat little trace for the baddies to follow so they can find for more people to turn into a TV dinner.
Yeah, the story is predictable as fuck but everyone in the movie does a pretty solid job and the cinematography looks pretty slick, making The Colony an okay flick to sit through.
