Justice from Trapped Under Ice started a new band called Angel Du$t with members of fellow Baltimore hardcore acts Turnstile and Mindset. With “A.D.” they have just released their debut album. Or EP. Because with 12 tracks in 14 minutes, can you really call this a full-length?

Anyone who’s expecting short bursts of extremely pissed off hardcore will be in for a surprise though because while the songs on here are loud enough, there is plenty of room for melody and catchy riffs along with some alt-rock leanings. Hell, “Squeeze” even comes with a weirdass la-la-la-la-latin vibe. Even a song like “Let It Rot”, which starts of as a fast punkrock ditty then turns into something more radio-friendly. “Set Me Up” on the other hand is a solid hardcore tune with Reba from Code Orange Kids throwing in her two cents.

While not quite as good as Diamond Youth, Angel Du$t is a welcome addition to the ever-expanding TUI family that seems hellbent on blurring the lines between hardcore, punk, pop and rock.

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
