Built around brothers Zachary and Andy Gabbard, Cincinatti’s Buffalo Killers have already been around for some time and are back at it with a new album, already their fifth. Rounded out by drummer Joseph Sebaali and newcomer Sven Kahns on guitar lap steel, they drift off together to a state of heavy reverie.

Opener “Poisonberry Tide” comes rushing in with equal parts Southern rock and 90s indie rock. Is it just me or do these guys pack a distinct Posies vibe? Whatever, the result sounds great and the guys keep it going from there with “This Girl Has Grown” and “Cousin Todd”, the latter of which comes with some sweet vocal harmonies. “Who You Are?” on the other hand sounds like a young Ozzy fronting the Black Keys. Basically all ten songs on here rock, combining warm voices with loud guitars and together they form a damn fine album that sounds like a perfect mix of classic rock and 90ies rock. Beats me why these guys aren’t any bigger!

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
