The Brooklyn-based punks called Hot Knife are back with a new EP called ‘Dread’. Boasting five brand spankin’ new songs that are as short as they are sweet while also echoing the weird times we are living in now, ‘Dread’ manages to make an immediate impression in spite of clocking in at just over 12 minutes.

Upon further listens, you keep on discovering little details in cuts like the anxiety-riddled ‘Space Weapons’, previously released single ‘Top 10 Habits of Highly Successful People’ and the EP’s poppiest cut, ‘First Street,’ which only adds to the appeal of ‘Dread’. Featuring former members of bands such as Spanish Gamble, Static Radio NJ and Candy Hearts, it’s not hard to figure out how come these songs sound so smooth and effortless. Throw in a production job by Jesse Cannon (The Menzingers, Misfits, Dillinger Escape Plan) and mixing and mastering by Jason Livermore and you are looking at one sweet as hell EP that will please every fan of fierce yet highly melodic punk rock.

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
