Here’s a fun little split courtesy of No Panic Records and Flix Agency, featuring four rather different bands that you won’t mind having in your life.

First up is Walk The Plank, a hardcore punk band out Washington DC that reminded me of early Fucked Up. You know, before they got all arty farty. Their raw and in-your face track is followed by No Fun’s “Cheesecake”. Which is about… cheesecake. I had never heard this German band before but they have this poppy take on 80ies punk going on that is pretty good. And vocalist Andreya has a great voice… poppy, melodic and going from sweet to aggressive in 0.4 seconds (we timed it!).

Next up… Such Gold with the track “Choosing Cages”. There’s no point in telling you more about these melodic hardcore punks. You’ve probably all heard “Misadventures” and “A New Sidewalk” at this point. If you haven’t, put it on your to do list.

And rounding out this international line-up is UK’s Harker with the track “Sometimes Dead Is Better”. What originally started out as a solo project for Mark Boniface has since turned into a full-fledged band. Their sound can be best described as folky punk. Or punky folk? Nah, let’s stick with folky punk.

You might not expect these four bands to be on a split together. Then again, no one thought a complete retard like Trump would get this far in the race to the White House either. So I guess stranger things have happened.

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
