Gentlemen Rogues released a video for their new single, 'Francy'. It is taken off the band's new 7", out now on Snappy Little Numbers. 'Francy' is a power-pop, barn burner about an international romantic connection, accompanied by a language barrier, resulting in unrequited lust.

Gentlemen Rogues' Danny Dunlap had this to say about the video:

“We made the ‘Francy’ video with our friend Daniel Fried. Daniel plays in the amazing Dirtnap Records band, Radioactivity. Daniel also has his own equally awesome band called TV’s Daniel. The opening guitar riff to ‘Francy’ is really big, bombastic, and feels loud… even at a lower volume. When we were trying to think of ideas for the video we kept coming back to this image of loads and loads of guitar amps. I think that opening riff was subconsciously guiding us on what to do for the visual representation of the song. I’ve also always loved seeing bands like AC/DC have these massive walls of Marshall cabinets behind them. It’s so over the top and silly, but also pretty badass! I think we were a bit informed by those types of ’70s arena rock ‘backdrops,’ as well. I guess this is our version of that.

We ended up with a really simple idea, and the execution was equally simple. We haphazardly stacked up a ton of different guitar amps from floor to ceiling, Daniel rented a spotlight, and we each took turns playing through the song being filmed at different (sometimes odd) angles. Playing the song in front of the spotlight was a bit like staring into the sun, but it brought with it some happy accidents. For example, we initially had no intention of filming the shadows our bodies were casting on to the wall of amps. The shadows looked so good that we ended up filming full takes of nothing but the shadow performances to be edited into the final video. The different textures of the amps make for a warm and earthy color palette, and I really like how you can’t see where the amps end or begin.”

Austin TX-based Gentlemen Rogues celebrate aggressive guitar pop, with punk-inflected energy, polished, precise songwriting, with sharp and sleek hooks. This is a four-piece for Now People, drawing inspiration from UK legends like The Jam, XTC, The Smiths, and Teenage Fanclub, while steadfastly blasting their own course through an American indie rock canon shaped by Superdrag, The Replacements, Sugar, and Superchunk...Manchester by way of the Midwest. Collectively, Danny Dunlap (vocals, guitar), John Christoffel (guitar), David Hawkins (bass), and Josh Power (drums) crank out catchy, amplified treble kickers, mixing powder keg intensity, classic melodies, and brash theatrics into a 200-proof distillation of brazen rock ‘n’ roll.
