One thing you should know about me before reading this review is that I don’t know the first thing about hockey. If I did, maybe I would have enjoyed this movie more. I kinda doubt it but you never know.

Goon is about Doug Glatt (Seann William Scott), not the sharpest tool in a shed that is otherwise filled with doctors. He’s friends with Pat (Jay Baruchel), one of those annoying guys who slings insults at the players when they’re both watching the game. When one of those players has had enough and gets in the stands to kick Pat’s ass, he finds himself on the wrong side of Glatt’s fury and gets his lights knocked out. Talent scouts notice the off-ice action and before you know, Glatt is playing professional hockey as the team’s enforcer and prepares to face off against Ross "The Boss" Rhea, the league’s most brutal player. Oh yeah, there is also a little subplot involving Glatt and a girl named Eva.

Honestly, I didn’t get this movie… it’s like the worst rags-to-riches story I have ever seen and I had the hardest time trying to relate to someone who seems to go through life as a complete dimwit. It just not interesting, entertaining or even remotely funny. The most unbelievable part of it all is that it is actually based on a real story.
