Album Reviews
- by Nate Hennon
I am not sure what is going on in the Canadian punk scene, but they are on target in 2017. Following in the vein of great skate punk coming from the "Great White North", Still Insane's latest effort, "Friends & Family," is an album I wished was around 20 years ago. Every aspect of this 5-song feels familiar, like Guttermouth meets Millencolin mixed with some NoFX. How does this work you may ask yourself? I am not sure, but it does.
The highlight of Still Insane's "Friends & Family" is their vocal delivery. Much like a rap artist will use their vocal cadence as its own instrument; Still Insane does not shy away from this musical dynamic. Similar to a Muppet, Still Insane attacks the words in each song to great success.
