"No Light to See" (out on April 11th) is the 5th studio album from The Slow Death, and by far their most artistically sweeping and impressive with its smart hooks, soaring guitar leads, powerful drumming, and lyrics that'll make you cry sung by a wild man who can't quiet the howling of the ghosts in his head, and is weighed down by the bleakness burdening everyone around him.

The Slow Death is Jesse "Pretty Boy" Thorson's most prolific project which has a lineup that's always evolving, and this album's tough hard working crew with Jack Gribble on drums, Luke Lechler on organ+guitars, and the bonus of Alex Bammel sprinkling some incredibly clever guitar leads on in the studio is hard to beat. "No Light to See" feels like an eerily special record that will speak volumes to anyone feeling like an outsider in these insane times, and remind us that while we're all out there on our own, we're shoulder to shoulder in solidarity.

Don't Sing is a new record label from Jesse Thorson (The Slow Death, Pretty Boy Thorson, Petty Larcenists...) and Annie Sparrows (Panel, The Soviettes, Green/Blue, Bermuda Squares...). They are married which should probably be a red flag, but then again what the hell - why not. They got the idea as they were each finishing up their most recent recordings (the 5th album from Jesse's primary band the Slow Death, and the first EP from Annie's new band Panel). They felt like they didn't know where to start when trying to find a home for them. Neither record was straight ahead punk enough for punk labels, pop enough for pop labels, rock enough for rock labels, or arty enough for art labels. The songs were like, all of those things at once while being none of them at all. That's what they want Don't Sing to become a home for - good songs that are smart and loud, but just because they are not because they're trying to be.
