Seeking a fresh start, recently divorced Sarah (Elisabeth Shue) and her daughter Elissa (Jennifer Lawrence) move into a new home in a small town. That new home however happens to be right next to a house where years ago a girl went psycho on her parents, leaving her brother Ryan (Max Thieriot) as the sole survivor.
Much against her mother’s wishes, Elissa finds herself attracted to the sad-eyed college boy, which is pretty much the only thing that happens in the first hour. It’s actually quite fascinating to see just how uneventful you can make a movie! Director Mark Tonderai (“Hush”) along screenwriters David Loucka (“Dream House”) and Jonathan Mostow (“Surrogates”) try to redeem themselves towards the end by turning the movie into a mess of poorly timed shocks which they hope will make up for the lack of suspense. It doesn’t work.
