Album Reviews
The Tim Version is a band out of Tampa that blends in perfectly on the No Idea roster. They play the kind of rambunctious, alcohol-fueled punkrock that needs to come with gritty vocals or else it just doesn’t feel right. Think Leatherface or Hot Water Music with the spirit of the Replacements. But they’ll just as well turn it down a notch or two and let it shimmer with some country twang in a tune like “Holidays And Birthdays” or “Die In Yer Sleep”, which goes on for a whopping six minutes… which actually is about three too many.
That said… the songs always feel right and are plenty of fun to listen to but there’s that little something lacking to make them really stand out. Or maybe the album is just lacking momentum. It makes “Ordinary Life” an okay album that – judging from opener “For The Birds” – could have been so much better.
